How Afterpay Pay in 4 works

Afterpay Pay in 4 divides an approved purchase into four payments over approximately six weeks. Afterpay states that Pay in 4 does not charge interest or annual fees, but late fees may apply if a payment is missed. Afterpay assesses account eligibility and each purchase separately, so approval is not guaranteed.

Using Afterpay at Smile Dental Clinic

1. Book an assessment so the dentist can identify clinically appropriate treatment.
2. Ask for a treatment estimate and tell the team you may use Afterpay.
3. If a private health-fund claim applies, the eligible benefit can be processed first where practicable.
4. Use your approved Afterpay account for the amount accepted by Afterpay and the clinic.
5. Review and manage repayments directly with Afterpay.

Afterpay is a payment method, not a health fund or a recommendation to proceed with treatment. Treatment decisions should be based on clinical need, risks, alternatives and your circumstances.

Eligibility and responsible use

Afterpay says applicants must generally be at least 18, live in Australia, provide verifiable contact and identity details, and use a valid Australian bank-issued payment card. Eligibility assessment can include income, expenses and credit-report information. Purchase approval also depends on factors such as account history, amounts already owed and order value.

Consider whether the scheduled repayments fit your budget. If you miss a payment, late fees may apply and the account may be paused. Read the current Afterpay customer terms before using the service.

Health funds and out-of-pocket costs

Afterpay does not increase a private health-fund benefit. Your insurer determines any rebate according to your policy, waiting periods, annual limits and item eligibility. You remain responsible for the portion not paid by your insurer and for meeting the Afterpay repayment schedule.
