Infection Control

Last updated: 2 July 2026

Your safety, and the safety of our team, is something we take seriously at every visit. This page outlines our commitment to infection control and clinical hygiene.

1. Our Commitment

Dentists @ Canning Vale follows infection control practices consistent with the Australian Dental Association’s Guidelines for Infection Control, the Dental Board of Australia’s expectations for safe practice, and relevant national infection prevention and control guidance. These standards are reviewed and updated regularly to reflect current best practice.

2. Sterilisation of Instruments

Reusable dental instruments are cleaned and sterilised between every patient using validated sterilisation equipment and processes, with routine testing to confirm effectiveness. Wherever appropriate, we use single-use, disposable items that are discarded immediately after use and never reused.

3. Personal Protective Equipment and Hygiene

Our clinical team uses appropriate personal protective equipment, including gloves, masks and eyewear, for every patient interaction involving clinical treatment, and follows strict hand hygiene practices before and after each appointment.

4. Surface and Equipment Disinfection

Treatment areas, dental chairs and equipment surfaces are cleaned and disinfected between patients in line with infection control protocols, and our clinical areas are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness throughout the day.

5. Staff Training and Compliance

Our team receives ongoing training in infection control procedures, and our practice undertakes regular internal checks to confirm our processes remain compliant with current guidelines and regulatory requirements.

6. Questions or Concerns

If you have any questions about our infection control practices, or a concern you’d like to raise, please speak with our team directly or see our Complaints & Feedback page.
