You may have a My Health Record | a secure, online summary of your health information, managed by the Australian Digital Health Agency. This page explains what that means for you as a patient at Dentists @ Canning Vale.
What Is My Health Record?
My Health Record is a national digital health record system that allows your health information | such as shared health summaries, medications and test results | to be securely accessed by you and, with appropriate permissions, by the healthcare providers involved in your care.
Every Australian has a My Health Record unless they have chosen to opt out.
How This Affects Your Dental Care
Where our clinical software is connected to the My Health Record system, and where it is clinically relevant to your dental care, we may view existing health information in your My Health Record | such as medications or allergies noted by another provider | or contribute information from your visit, such as a shared health summary.
We only do this where it supports safe, informed dental treatment.
Your Control Over Your Record
My Health Record is designed to put you in control. You can:
- View what’s in your record at any time via the My Health Record app or website
- Set access controls to restrict which providers can see your information
- Ask us not to upload information from your visit
- Opt out of the My Health Record system entirely
For more information or to manage your record, visit myhealthrecord.gov.au or call the My Health Record Help Line on 1800 723 471.
